Highlight:
Kennedy Bay and some rock hopping!
Challenge:
Today with accommodation sorted for the next two nights, meant I was some what committed to that distance time line.
Sore feet, firm pavements I was not not looking forward to the remaining 15-20km. Advice as I past a local in their garden was to pop my feet in the ocean. I reached Takapuna, my feet still achung even once postioned on the park beach. Risking getting sandy blisters, I wobbled down to the waterline, untill I was knee deep. My feet then air dryed and sock dusted, while I ate salty chips and ibuprofen. I was off refreshed on a more enjoyable surface. Coastal track with rocks and sand.
I arrive at Browns Bay knowing there was a 3km off trail to the trail angel. Surprised by the size of the settlement (picture a town the size of Morrisville, beachside), I searched if there was a bus run that would take me close. I've still got $ on my Hopp card, and would love to avoid extra steps. There was a bus, pretty much door to door!
I ordered a donburi bowl and inhalded half of it before the bus arrived.
Learning:
How things change or not.
Today walk took me though some familiar locations.
Same, same but different. Mt Eden now has boardwalk to better protect the fragile area.
I was surprised with the North Shore, and the many beaches, communities and trails. Being over the bridge it wasn't location I actively sort out during my time living in Auckland.
