Highlight:

Trail magic

A dog walker handed me her bracelet to help keep me safe.

A local on Duck Creek Road yelled out to me. Sure. Lunch, ciabatta with walnuts sandwich was also provided and I heard the quick story of the boat project before they had to go meet the electrician.

Another local here offered me a lift to the end of road, I politely declined. The Stillwater Camp manger also checked I knew which way I was going, (as they were expecting a southbounder).

And finally the trail angels for the night, Laurie even meet me out on the road.

Challenge:

Below average road walking. Road with near nil verge, steep drop off, corners and traffic. Plus rain.

Learning:

How good is the Ōkura bush walkway?! I was surprised. Most of the original Ōkura bush walkway is closed due to Kauri dieback. But this little up and over bit between the estuary and Stillwater was a welcome change to the urban trails before.
