Highlight:

Woohoo options for food on route. Coffee and trail talk!
A person out walking their dog this morning.

Are you doing the great walk?
Yes.

They crossed the road to find out more.

What's it called?
Te Araroa, the long pathway.

They live near by and were interesting in getting involed to host walkers. I let them know about the trail angel fb group.

I then meet an Civil Engineer who gave me a lift around the current road block ($25 million new subdivision project in South Dury).

And on my 3rd attempt for coffee (McD's was only open for drive thur), I had delicious & strong coffee and conversation about tramping with the barista.

Challenge:

Urban walking has some down sides. Options for accommodation has a extra admin and decisions to make. I reflect on how easy it was in the South Island with simple choices. Now I have to decide how far to walk...and if that suits well with the follow days... Anyway I made contact with the trail angel recommend to me yesterday. They live off trail and can do pick ups. I earmarked Wiri as a good stop point, as once on the trail to the airpoint your commited.

Learning:

Puhinui - a place I visited for the first time on Thursday to catch Te Huia train!
