Highlight:

Gentle downhill running.
Maybe channelling some energy from the Dirt Church podcasts I've been listening to, and the light bag.

Challenge:

Southbounders.

We stopped at Hurunui hut today for lunch.
There was a couple of southbound trampers with the same idea.
By the time I'd boiled water for soup there was half a dozen trampers and more arriving out of the bush.

The hum of noise and (smoking) smells was quite different to the gentle bush sounds, and the groups of one or two we have exchanged with so far.

Learning:

Hurunui is a mainland island, with one of New Zealands two significant populations of
Kākāriki / orange-fronted parakeet.
The second being Pureora.
