We'd planned when leaving Arthur's pass to take a zero day at Goat Pass hut, there was more serious rain coming through last night and all today. As such, the Deception river would be entirely impassable, even before considering the extra flow rate that the melting snow would add to it.
A lazy day spent curled in bed reading. Brrr, boy is it cold up here. We haven't yet needed to light a fire, though we'd have been sorely tempted had there been a fireplace at this hut. We figure we'll wait around until we see the next coast to coaster come through, as that will let us know that the river is crossable once more at the bottom.
