Awoke to an airmat that was somewhat flatter than it was last night. Never a great thing to have, I'll need to assess it. We got breakfast at the Pelorus café. We unanimously agreed that it was the best full breakfast that we'd had in the whole of the south island... and we've had a few. Whether or not our judgement was clouded by having had a week's worth of dehydrate, only a future re-examination will tell. We only had a short, flat, walk today to get through to Havelock, where we'd need to do washing and a resupply. That walk started with the Pelorus Bridge.

The track took us through a little bit of bush before spitting us out onto farmland for 6 or 7 km. Then it was a long gravel road... not the most interesting, but we were happy for the 5–6 km/h we were able to do after the 2–3 km/h of the last week through the Richmond's.

The gravel road wound us around parallel to the main SH6 but on the opposite side of the Pelorus river. Until it came back over a bridge and put us on SH6 for the last 3–4 km into Havelock.

There we set about finding a pub and a beer. That accomplished, a bakery for lunch, a motel for the night, some washing, then out for a meal. Havelock is known for its greenshell mussels, so that is what we sought after.
