Highlight:


Along the gravel road we were offered a ride by some multiday trampers collecting their car. We declined, and instead accepted a beer and chips.

This will see us well for dinner as we were down to the fish pie dehydrate meal.This meal had been kicking around home for years now and had made it's way into the drop box for this section.We have hearded mixed reviews about it and while it has travelled on half a dozen tramps with us, it's always been the last meal and good incentive to finish a tramp. Today we were saved, the fish pie lives another day. We really are unable  to show our full appreciation to these trail angels with this passing interaction.

Challenge:


Trent, not being a morning person was woken by the arrival of a helicopter and four occupants.The team and associated gear were shipped in for a week of pest plant control; gorse, wilding pines ect.

Learning:

Pekapeka / Longtail bat is classed as ‘nationally critical’. Trapping of mammalian pests (and wasps) covers 250 hectares in Te Hoiere area.Pekapeka can also be found on the banks of the Waikato river at Hammond Park.
