Highlight:

Pre ultimate day.
The Te Paki Coastal track really stood out, both scenery and track standard.
Have I became scenery de-senitized after just watching beach for three days? This was pretty spectacular, a mix of Te Henga, (& later I would realise Tongariro National Park.

Challenge:

Last 500m of the beach. My right pinky sore, due to the tension of a strap. I took off my sand
els, and walked bearfoot to a sheltered spot. First trying behind rocks, and then a familiar pōhutukawa tree, Trent and I had lunch under in 2019.

I fished out my first aid kit (it had fallen to the bottom of my bag, with slack packing), band aided the open skin and put on socks.

I also needed the first aid kit for vasline. Dispite wearing my long, chaff apposing undies. The earlier rain wet my shorts and my legs had turned bloody.

I wiped of the blood with a wet buff, dryed and vaslined. New towel outfit on. The rain clouds getting closer I quickly repacked without taking of my jumper or jacket. Sunscreen was also due, but not actioned.

Learning:

Arriving at Twilight from the southern track, Charlie asked what I had learned on Te Araroa. I reflect on the different outfits I have warn and shed during. A metaphor of myself, a different version of the person that started in Bluff December 2020.
