Highlight:

John, Ronda, Eden and Josh welcomed me into their home. After a hot shower (3 showers in 3 days), a spider removal, we had a yummy home cooked meal, and later played Exploding Kittens. They recalled Trent staying with them - he had left a nice note to purhaps be the start of their vistors book.

Challenge:

Where can I get some town food without too many extra foot steps?

After a urgent pit stop at the public toilets, I search my maps for a near by cafe. Could I find something without walking backwards, or further into town. Nothing meet my criteria on OSM, but google map showed one just on a head. I got there, food caravan closed. Next option, Saleyard cafeteria - also closed. Third time lucky, a pub with some outside tables. I ordered an ice coffee, hash stack and felt the relief of taking my shoes off.

What to do now? Do I keep going to Palmerston North or just have a short day.  My direction was make clear with message back from John and Ronda. They would love to host me for the night. Say yes. Don't make thinks more effort or complicated Emma. I checked if I could get a pick up from Bunnythorpe this afternoon. Walking there would give me something to do for the rest of the day, and it would be achievable to reach my connection point tomorrow.

Learning:

Today is the first day I have through about finishing. I arrived at Feilding in time for lunch. My maths calculated tomorrow or the next day I would be off the trail. Wow I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet. While it appeared nice to not be rushing back to work. I would have a couple days to adjust back from the trail.

I felt sad to see the end.. There was no tears like at the chatuau. Tomorrow perhaps.. civy life. How will I deal with leaving again without reaching Te Rerenga Wairua once again? It was difficult leaving Palmerston North last time and settling into a work life routine. The trail is meditative, simple and full with purpose. On this section, I've had many dawn to dusk days. How purposeful is sitting in a cafe, eating. Not moving forward. So I asked John if he could do a pick up from Bunnythorpe. And headed to the supermaket. My first aid kit had been gradually growing. Pain killers at National Park, plasters at Whanganui, and now Betadine. The cut on my leg was pusy, and becoming sore to walk on.
