Highlight:

The local trail angel in bulls was away, the other one was on the way into town (which I had already walked past). I headed for the Holiday park via a Kebab store and 4 square. The Checkout Operator asked if I was doing Te Araroa. Yes! it was nice to be recognized. The Manawatū to is pretty involved in the trail (even if not walking it). I pitched my tent, and jumped the pool for a swim. There was still day light. I hadn't had much time just to chill out on my walking days prior to this. I rang Trent and talked for more than 10 minutes and without any background sounds. And then thinking more than just one day a head, I looked at transport options home. Bus to Welly and then fly or ferry.

Challenge:

A spend so much effort this morning on my feet. Keeping them clean and dry. That effort soon became futile as the rain overnight made the track out of Koitiata wet. I dodged the first few puddles, until it become obvious that this would be impassable with dry feet. I then just spalshed through it. Feet conditons soon eased, as I reach the beach for the next 13km.

Another challenge, or weird urban issue was youth on motorbikes, having fun. Side swiping... Anyone know the purpose? They were later spotted on foot walking into town.

Feet are still cracked, but are clean and the blisters have gone down.
