Highlight:

After the big day yesterday, we were in no hurry to head of today. We make the most of the facilitates and dried out the rest of the gear. I sent Rob a message, asking to stay tomorrow night? He responded quickly, they had been waiting to hear from me, since Trent told them I was heading their way. I let the others know of these Trail Angels and they were all keen to stay too. We got on the water a little after 10am.

Challenge:

Another cruisy day on the river, means there is more time to do other things. Like give my feet some more attention. They are still  reasonably swollen, the blisters have disappeared. Cracks now,  full with sand. It would of been useful if I had purposely packed jandals. I've been alternating with bare feet in the canoe, dirtyish socks & shoes when moving around. Trying to keep them clean, and dry. I've also been sleeping with my feet elevated, with my head sloping down in my tent. After dinner I curled in to the tent. Bottle of water, my unwashed towel, alcohol wipe. And tried to clean the sand out of wounds. I made some sad words & sounds. I had hoped that the time on the river would give my body and feet a good rest. Am I going to be able to walk on them? Do I still need more time?

Learning:

Hipango Park was gifted to the city of Whanganui by Putiki chief Waata Wiremu Hipango in 1913 for use as a picnic ground. Back in the day paddle steamers would frequent here often.
