Highlight:

Apologies for the similar photos taken - there was definitely variety.

High points are good, so are km markers. The Ratea forest had blue markers every km. They counted down for us.

Challenge:

Ratea mud? Nope, just getting on the start of track from the farmland. Marker was down, had to bush bash on some animal track then back track. Hopefully Jo and Tui find their way easier.

Another late night, sore feet/legs from Trent this time). It was around midnight when some locals and a puppy offered us a ride.  We said yes (meaning I quit the TA (for the second time)). Trent will come back and walk these 3km tomorrow (and I'll jump on a bus home). It was the night of Kaikaia Boxing Charity Event, so the backpacker's were accommodating to our late check in.

Learning:

Toilet facilities at the trail camp on the northside where like not we had seen before. This looked like a great set up - they had a long table, kitchen bench, shade sail, shower and... a squat toilet. Trent meet a hedgehog here, while I pulled out some food, fleece and gloves. Pictured in the camp set up from the night before.
