Highlight:

Hut complete with lights, power, electric jug, fridge, pots and pans, running water etc etc. There was a good entry in the book by Eugenie Sage (Minister of Conservation). And we were the only occupants. Photo taken the next morning in the day light.

I had eye balled this hut on a map during our Northland road trip last summer. It was road accessible and boarders on to bush. Such a hard to find in the Waikato. Rach & Bjorn - you can make it to this one with the kids.

Challenge:

Town - there is always a few distractions. New undies were found today. Not the Outdoor Research Echo, but a similar style from Jockey.

I complete my second solo food shop as Trent waits patiently for a barber to tidy up his nomad look. I later realize I've lost some weight from my pack (21g). I left my pocket knife outside New World when I was taping my toes. RIP another treasured piece of kit gone into Te Araroa void of no return.

Learning:

A classic Te Araroa long way around today. From what we can make out the roads marked up make sense when the track ran through adjoining farmland. However the farmland track has been re-routed, but not the road part. I took the sensible less ~5km option and give my feet a bit of a break. Trent sticks with the official track and heads out and only and back to the road we were out. See you at the hut.
