Day 650: Northen Waikato River

What a send off!

Challenge:

It was a challage to follow the 'basic track' (as described by the trail notes) into Mercer. Trent had experienced a similar fate, with the final 3km taking a couple hours.

On dark and head touch on. I turned of my podcasts and with no triangle marker I tested a few options and evenually headed for a fence line on the otherside of the swamp. I kepted with the fence and was reconnected with the markers! Yes!Not long after after following this defined track the ground and markers gave no tell. I checked out options, match up my map and gps, always hovering to my point of reference. White post with triangle. I rang Trent, maybe he also lost his way here.. he informed me of the tall cutty grass to come and the McD that waited beond.  I stoped looking for the track, and changed my tac to down to the road. With this directionally certainy I was shortly walking free on the side of the expressway.
